Scan enabled columns on forms not allowing manual text input

We used to be able to manually key text on forms with scan enabled values, now greyed out, no text input. If I turn off the scan feature I get a functioning drop down…

Also, possibly related, in another form the columns with scan enabled do not appear at all, mobile is fine except for no manual text option listed above.
