Strange data display in concatenated date field

I have a field with an app formula that is suddenly not displaying correctly even though the data is being stored correctly in the underlying sheet. I don’t think I changed anything.

Old data displays properly. Today’s data does not. Instead of Jul 23 it shows 44400

This is the app formula. It correctly formats the date in the underlying data.

The underlying data is correct but is not displaying correctly.

Any ideas?

Update. When it first processes it shows the correct format. THEN it switches to 44400. I have a video of that but don’t think I can upload it.
