Trouble with Today() Formatting in Shift Scheduling App

Hello,

If this is posted in the wrong place or there's already an answer or etc., please let me know and I apologize in advance.

I'm editing the Shift Scheduling template (hXXps://www.appsheet.com/templates/Schedule-shifts-and-manage-timesheets-for-frontline-workers?appGuidString...) to be able to have my employees be able to sign up for, clock in/out, and swap shifts at the restaurant. I have no shifts available on Monday except if ownership wants to track the time we spend at the restaurant, max three front of house and max three back of house staff shifts on Tuesday, two shifts for FoH and two for BoH on Wednesday, etc. etc. etc. I got it, basically, all set up the way I want for one week of shifts and then moved on to expand out to a full month of shifts. Here I realized, the Today () and Today() -1 and Today () +1 formatting is constantly screwing with the available shifts. So, if I look at the Sheet on Friday 04JUL, there's (technically) the correct amount of shifts available, but they're for the incorrect times. The Saturday shifts reflect what should be available on Sunday, and Monday's shifts look like what should be available for Sunday. If I were to look at the spreadsheet/app on Saturday 05JUL, it'll be shifted one day to the right.

1) Is there a better way for me to be coding in the available shifts each day, e.g. 2x ownership shifts available on Monday, 2x ownership and 3x FoH shifts and 3x BoH shifts on Tuesday, 2x owners 2x FoH 2x BoH on Wednesday, etc?

2) Is there a different template I should be using that allows: selecting, swapping, clocking in/out?

Thanks, all for your insight.

Definitely.

ownership shifts

What does this mean?

Let's see if I can describe this better...

In the Google Sheet behind the app, there's an "Available" tab with columns labeled Key, Location, Scheduled Date, and etc. In the Scheduled Date column, there's the "Today ()" or "Today () +1" or "Today () -1" function which will fill in, like, July 8, 2025 or July 9, 2025 or whatever corresponds to the Today () function that's in the field.

If I look at the Google Sheet on, say, Tuesday 8 July 2025 at the available shifts for the day "Today ()", there will be 2x shifts for the owners (we own the place, I want my employees to see who of us will be there with them so I created shifts for us owners to claim) from 11 - 2200 (the saturday hours), 1x BoH shift from 11 - 2200 (saturday hours), 2x BoH shifts 11 - 2200 (Saturday hours), 2x FoH shifts 11 - 2200 (saturday) and 1x delivery driver shift 11 - 2200 (saturday). When I view the Sheet on Wednesday 09 July, the "Today ()" shifts will be 2x shifts for the owners from 11 - 2100 (sunday hours), 1x BoH shift from 11 - 2100 (sunday), and hopefully I've explained that well enough so you can see where it goes from there.

Is there something I could be doing better here? I think I may be more correct by going into the app and creating recurring shifts. But, they get titled incorrectly and only show the Monday shifts as available to claim. I betcha, if I log into the app on Wednesday 09 July, I'll see only the recurring Tuesday shifts as available.

Thoughts? Does this explain better?
