Unfortunate Side Effect for: Desktop UX + Dashboard + FAB

There is an alchemy of configurations that's causing an issue:

  • If you've got the new desktop UX turned on
  • And you've got a dashboard view
  • And you've got an action set to the "Primary" setting...
    • This puts the action into the header for the view where they're shown

Unfortunately... the placement of the buttons into the header has the side effect of covering up the name of the view.

And if you're using a dashboard view... you can't see the names of the views.

IE: In the view below you can see an "Import Data" screen, where people can come to import data into the app.  (You can learn more about how I set this up here.)

  • Each box is a table they can import data into, and you can see that it's difficult to see the names.

My temporary solution: Change the action names to include the table name first

Unfortunately, it’s not very clean to do this. Honestly, no business would want this.
