Hi everyone, I have a question about synchronization:
For those of you who have tested various options:
Which database has the fastest synchronization speed with AppSheet? I’m thinking it might be AppSheet DB, but I’m not sure. Could someone create a ranked list of synchronization speeds for some of the most commonly used databases? I considered posting this in Tips and Tricks, but since I don’t know the answer, maybe it’s better to leave it in AppSheet Q&A so it can help everyone make decisions.
Could you arrange the following list in order:
- AppSheet Database
- SupaBase
- MySQL
- Google Sheets
- Excel
- Etc.
Thank you!

From my experience:
I bet there's a lot of efficiencies that have been put in place to make AppSheet Databases the fastest; which is sad, because it's the poorest developed of them all. Full disclosure: I have no experience with ASDB, but everyone I talk to says it's fast - and cumbersome/difficult to work with. Those that have given it a real try have all, every single one I've talked to, switched away after a week or so because of how difficult, under developed, and clunky it is to work with.

Your license type also determines how many degrees of parallel processing you have:
When you combine a SQL instance with an enterprise license, you get really fast loading times - the best you can get. This is how you squeeze the most juice out of it, that and security filters and efficient app build strategies.

Yes, AppSheet Database is a bit of a complication, full of errors. They say it’s no longer in beta, but (is it maintained?).
In fact, my friend, as I’ve openly mentioned many times—not because I know something special, but just from simple common sense—Google has, in my view, focused on the wrong areas. Google owns Firebase, yet AppSheet cannot integrate with Firebase (they could have worked on enabling that). GPT has been pulling ahead of Gemini (at least based on my user experience); however, Google has focused on competing rather than considering acquiring GPT. AI has been democratizing what used to be accessible only to a select few, and AppSheet embodies that democratization within a single platform. Yet Google isn’t giving AppSheet the importance it deserves, and it’s falling behind (they could have listened to user feedback). I truly hope Google opens its eyes because it’s a great company, and it would be a shame if it ends up losing out due to shortsightedness.
