Hi and thank you for taking time to read this.
In the app I would like to create a dropdown list of the companies we do field service for but with the possibility to add a new company in the app but without being able to modify the companies already in the list. I have already created a new tab in Excel with all the existing companies. The manual input method until now has created up to 20 naming versions of the same company ๐คฃ
Example: Our technician is onsite for a new company, filling in the intervention data he/she would then have to add the new company's name in the dropdown list. Would this be possible at all? I had a look but couldn't find anything to help.
Many thanks to all who intervene. All the best from Italy!.

Solved! Go to Solution.
Use ORDERBY() in valid_if.
Setting your dropdown list as a Ref column pointing to your described company table may solve your issue.
Also experiment with different combinations of the "allow other values" and "autofill other values" options, to see how they work.
Thanks Marc, i'll give this a try. Hopefully "allow other values" may do the trick. I'll let you know if this works. Cheers!
Thanks again Marc, I didn't have any time on my hands until this evening. It works great although I have a question. In the drop down list that data doesn't appear in alphabetical order as is the g-sheet source. What can I do to put it in A-Z order?
Many thanks
