Pup up for modifying automation linkable components

Dear AppSheet team,

I would like to share an idea that, in my opinion, could be relatively straightforward to implement on your side but would deliver significant benefits for users working with AppSheet Automation.

As you know, the ability to create linked automation components (events, processes, and tasks) is a very powerful feature, as it allows us to centralize and reuse logic across multiple bots or workflows. However, as powerful as this capability is, it also requires a high level of discipline and governance—since any changes to a linked component will automatically propagate to all the bots and processes where it is used.

That is precisely why I believe it would be incredibly valuable if the platform provided a clear, proactive confirmation prompt whenever a user edits a linked component, explicitly warning them that this change will affect all places where the component is currently linked.

Even though the interface shows an icon indicating that the component is linked, during daily work, it is very easy for this to be overlooked—especially when users are focused on iterating or troubleshooting automations.

Moreover, while we as developers can attempt to reflect some characteristics of the event or process in the component’s name (via nomenclature), the reality is that these characteristics might change over time, while the naming convention should ideally remain consistent and stable.

Therefore, a built-in safeguard or reminder at the moment of editing would help reinforce best practices, avoid accidental disruptions, and support governance for those of us managing complex apps and automation ecosystems.

I hope you will consider this suggestion, and thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Best regards, Gustavo
