Can't verify my own domain in order to setup my new google workspace account

I've created a new Google Workspace business account 5 days ago and ever since I cannot login to set it up.
when I login I get the message "We've detected unusual activity on the account that you're trying to access. To continue, please follow the instructions below." then it asks me to verify through my phone - when I add my phone number, I get a "This phone number has already been used too many times for verification." I tried giving it other phone numbers to no avail (even ones that are 100% not associated with any google account). I have only 2 other gmail accounts where this phone is used. tried clearing the cache of my browser, different device, incognito, nothing helped.
I go an email from google suggesting their help with domain verification:
"

The Google Workspace support team can walk you through verifying your domain and setting up your business email. 24/7 support is included with your Google Workspace account."
but there is no phone# I acn call. it's just some troubleshooting tips that led me to nothing!
quite frustrated with this. considering other email services which is a shame since I'm a google user forever and i'd love my new business to use Google Workspace. Please help!

I share your frustration and am experiencing a similar issue - cannot verify our domain for Google Workspace.
This domain has been owned by and in use for over 25 years, Google incorrectly mark it as associated with another account. I have updated the DNS records with both CNAME and TXT records, but it is still not verified after 10 days and hours of trying to resolve this.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to contact Google support directly - If you or anyone have any suggestions on how to escalate this or resolve the matter, I would appreciate your help.

Check out all the various options for recovering admin access to your Google Workspace account at https://support.google.com/a/answer/33561?hl=en.

There are a number of options there including getting in touch with support as well as technical methods to prove to Google that you own your domain name and should be allowed to access the Workspace instance.

Hope that helps,

Ian
