Google Space - prevent task updates from creating spam in the chatbox

Hi,

Within my company we are using Google Spaces actively for projects and workgroups, including the task functionality.

Situation: When a new task is created, a new thread in the Space chatbox is created and shown in the chatbox of all members of the Space. When a task is marked completed, this is also reported in the chatbox.

Issue: Due to all these updated in the chatbox, members of the Space miss other chat messages with relevant information. The task functionality basically creates a lot of spam, which makes the chat functionality less suitable for communication within the team.

My request: Is there a way to prevent new entries into the space chatbox as a result of new actions or updates on actions?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Agree. Weโ€™d like to move on from Asana and Tasks within Spaces make perfect sense to us but each added task adds a thread.

Feature request: Add a โ€œCreate Threadโ€ checkbox that can be deselected when creating a task so it doesnโ€™t get created. Tapping the chat button after this would autogenerate a task if needed in the future.

You might want to post this to the Feature Ideas section here. Doing so will allow it to be upvoted by others and possibly considered as a future feature enhancement.

If you do not already have access, you need to request it first. See https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/custom/page/page-id/Workspace-Feature-Ideas-FAQ for how to do that.

Once you have access, go to https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Feature-Ideas/gh-p/workspace-ideas-group . There, you can upvote and comment on any similar idea, or post a new idea.

If you are submitting a feature idea, be sure to explain the problem that you're trying to solve with the feature idea, not just the idea itself. For example, saying "when my users are trying to do 'A', they often get confused by the fact that the buttons to do 'X' and to do 'Y' look quite similar to each other, which leads to this unintended consequence" is far more likely to get fixed than a feature idea that just says "change the color of the button 'Y'".

Cheers,

Ian

Unfortunately; I donโ€™t have access. Our company has a business Workspace account but apparently not cool enough to be accepted into the program. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

You do have to request access. See the first link in my response above.
