Change text on system action buttons in form?

Is there a way to change the wording of standard action buttons like View and Add in the form?

Could you elaborate? Are you looking for the localize" option? You can certainly change certain display names using CONTEXT() functions etc. With CONTEXT() functions you can change the names for certain views as you wish.

I want to change the purple View and Add buttons that appear above the edit symbol (in purple in this setup) to "View Machine" and "Add Machine". (Actually I'd be happy to lose the View one altogether as it duplicates clicking on the item above and just have "Add Machine" or "Add xxxx" in the context of the form view.

Were you able to take a look at the UX -> Localize option? 

You can configure suitable expressions there

You will not be able to do away with "View" totally but you can simply have a blank"" for its name in localize so that it will not show any text, even though some minimum blank space will still remain there in the view and if user taps on it, the "View" related navigation will take place.
