Control map pin display order

I’m wondering if there is any way to control the display order of map pins on a map view? I have a map where it would be very helpful if I could get the most recent records to display on top of the others, or even if I could display pins with a certain category in a field on top of other categories in that same field. I’ve searched high and low and I can’t find a way to do this.

Your only options is using format rules to control colour and icon or using a slice to control whether they show up or not.
