AppSheet Core is now included in more Google Workspace plans

Great news! Could you comment on how external users are tracked under these plans? E.g. if I have 10 workspace accounts, and 5 external non-workspace accounts, how am I invoiced for the 5 excess users?

Also, is there anything planned for users that need AppSheet enterprise features that are also on Google Workspace? Is AppSheet Enterprise available at a discounted rate?

it is still not visible in our Workspace Business Standard in Europe (set to rapid deployment).
Any more insight on the rollout schedule?
Thanks

@Jonathon - Apologies for the delay in my response! From the team:

You will now only require licenses for the external non-Workspace accounts. As an AppSheet admin, you can determine which users have the Core inclusion from Workspace and which don't from the My Team > Members page. Discounts may be available for AppSheet Core users upgrading to AppSheet Enterprise, but it may depend on the number of licenses - best to work with an account manager to determine.

@StefanRied - This was being gradually rolled out, but should be rolled out to all customers now. I am confirming with the team.

For customers purchased entitled Workspace SKUs before July 30th, please re-login to AppSheet with your Workspace account. In your "My Account" page, it should now reflect "Core (Google Workspace)".

The AppSheet Core licenses are a part of the entitled Workspace SKUs and will not specifically show AppSheet Core in the Workspace admin console.

If by the end of Monday Aug 7th, your AppSheet account still doesn't reflect "Core (Google Workspace)", please reach out to your Workspace support. Our support will collect necessary customer information and help with triage.

Please also note that the AppSheet Core Security setting is still being rolled out, and you might not see the AppSheet Core Security toggle in the Workspace admin console until the end of Friday Aug 18th.

Thank you for your patience during the multi-stage rollout process.

I am a legacy customer of AppSheet since well before the acquisition by Google.  Over the past week I have been bounced back and forth between Workspace Sales and Workspace Support several times, trying to get licensing sorted out.

My Workspace Admin console shows that I am an existing Business Plus subscriber, but still offers AppSheet Core as an upgrade for additional fees.  Appsheet is enabled a Workspace application in my domain for my user base.

Turning off my existing AppSheet licenses from the Billing tab in AppSheet just takes me back to the free plan, which is insufficient to run my Appsheet applications.  It's almost as though my existing AppSheet app account is not even associated with my Workspace domain, though we are able to use our Workspace credentials to log in there.

Online technical support and sales both seem very uninformed and I have been bounced back and forth between them.  Any help or suggestions would be very greatly appreciated.

@Guy_Cardwell sorry for the inconvenience, could you please share your case id or your Email that sent to the Sales team with me through DM so I can help you resolve your issue ASAP.

We also have very strict process to avoid the situation where our customers feel like we are kicking the ball back and forth to each other. But glad to take a deeper look into it and find what exactly happened in your case.

@devingu I appreciate the quick attention here.

My issue is resolved after a lengthy interaction with support.  This time I approached support from https://support.google.com/appsheet/gethelp?sjid=5082741981454307121-NA rather than https://support.google.com/a/answer/1047213?hl=en, which seems to have directed to a support person who was more capable and able to answer AppSheet concerns.

These steps seem to have brought us to a good conclusion.

  1. Customer support actually had *cancel* our existing AppSheet paid subscription plan, something that doesn't seem like it can be done by the user from the dashboard.  You can go to the "free" subscription, as I tried to do, but that is not the same as cancelling.
  2. From the Workspace admin console, I had to be sure that  AppSheet was enabled under the "Apps/Google Workspace" menu, and
  3. I also made sure that AppSheet was installed and enabled under "Apps/Google Workspace Marketplace apps" in the Workspace admin console.

#2 was in place prior to this incident, but not #3, and that may have made the difference.  As we are using AppSheet in a production context daily, I'm reluctant to disable #3 to test further at present.

The support agent was also able to issue me a refund for the various subscription permutations I went through along to the way to get here, prorated back to the time when I should have had licenses through Workspace.  Upon finally reaching a capable agent, I was very pleased with the customer service.

A FAQ entry might provide some better guidance for the future.   Simply saying "contact the sales team" or "contact the support" team leads down a "maze of twisty little passages, all alike".

@devingu, I can PM you any of the email and transcripts if that's helpful.

Hey @Guy_Cardwell , if you are trying to reach out to the support lead from https://support.google.com/a/answer/1047213?hl=en, then I am not the best POC. (I am the lead for https://support.google.com/appsheet/gethelp)

But feel free to share the Workspace support ticket ID so I can share it with my counterpart on your behalf. Sorry for the confusion... we have two support channels run by different leads.
