Forms Requires Sign In

Last year we created a form for our membership. But it required people to sign in to a gmail account to fill it out. The form does not have the option "Requires Sign in" checked, so what happened? We need a form that does not require sign in as our membership is elderly and many do not have gmail accounts. Do we need to give up on Google forms?

Are you collecting email addresses - either under Settings > Responses or Settings > Default? I believe those will require them to sign into a Google account.

No, no emails collected.  No restrictions, still it is asking them to sign in.

@dlars95 or using file uploads? -KAM

Hi - Is this still true for all three of these settings?

Hi there,

Since Forms have been updated, heres the latest information:

The form will require respondents to login if ANY of the following are true:
  • "General access > Responder view" is set to "Restricted" and the user trying to access the form has been added to the "People with access" but has not logged into their Google/Gmail account when accessing the form.
  • The form has a file upload question.
  • "Collect email addresses" is set to "Verified"Note: This setting will capture the respondents Gmail/Google email address.
  • "Allow response editing" is enabled.
  • "Limit to 1 response" is enabled.
  • "Disable auto-save for all respondentsis disabled.
  • For Workspace accounts (NOT personal gmail accounts): "Restrict to users in {yourdomain܂com}" is enabled.

To allow public access to the form without requiring respondents to login, ALL of the following must be true:
  • "General access > Responder view" is set to "Anyone with the link"
  • The form doesn't have any file upload questions.
  • "Collect email addresses" is NOT set to "Verified". Note: If "Collect email addresses" is set to "Responder input", the respondent can manually enter an email address.
  • "Allow response editing" is disabled.
  • "Limit to 1 response" is disabled.
  • "Disable auto-save for all respondentsis enabled.
  • For Workspace accounts (NOT personal gmail accounts): "Restrict to users in {yourdomain܂com}" is disabled.
