We’ve come a long way and have reached a number of milestones since we relaunched the Google Cloud Community in June 2021 and now, reaching more than 100,000 members!

Where we’re going
We’ve come a long way and have reached 100,000 members, but there’s more room for us to run. Cloud adoption isn’t slowing down and neither are we. We have some exciting plans to continue investing in this Community and we can’t do it without you.
Please continue to provide feedback in our Community Feedback forum - what you like currently, what you’d like to see in the future, which topics we should cover more (or less), which content types you prefer (or don’t), etc. Your feedback is critical in making this community a helpful and worthwhile place to be!
With this in mind, we have a few updates coming down the track that our Community team is working on - alongside many other Googlers, Community members, customers, and partners - to help make the Community even better. Below is a sneak peek into these updates, but stay tuned for more details throughout the year.
Welcoming the Looker Community to the Google Cloud Community
Looker is Google’s business intelligence solution, making it easier for users to get insights from data. Currently, the Looker Community lives here, but on May 22nd, the Looker Community will have a new home under the Google Cloud Community.
Moving to the Google Cloud Community ensures long-term durability and sustainability of this community and its programs. This iteration will also allow us to manage and moderate the community more efficiently, which will enable us to offer more updates from the product team and more community events to learn and share best practices from Looker experts.
Our goal is to ensure the new community site is clean, organized, and moderated.
- What’s changing: this site’s content and URL will be moving to the Google Cloud Community platform beginning May 22, 2023.
- What’s not changing: The Looker Community will continue to function as its own sub-community with a dedicated space, forums, and events. Additionally, existing post content and profiles will be migrated.
Learn more in our announcement post here, and stay tuned as we share more information in the coming weeks. Let’s get ready to welcome our Looker Community!
Community ranks and badges
Thanks to everyone who has provided their feedback regarding the Google Cloud Community’s rank structure, badges, and recognition program. We’ve been hard at work developing an updated Community rank structure and recognition program that will:
- Encourage and reward quality contributions
- Indicate members’ level of engagement and expertise, which can help others know how to best respond and communicate with each other
- Help establish credibility and visibility as a leader
- Bring an element of gamification that helps make Community fun!
It’s not too late to share your thoughts. Please let us know what you think in the comments here. Your feedback is tremendously helpful in ensuring any changes we make are aligned to your wants and needs.
Continuing to invest in live events, soon with more speakers from the Community
Since our first live Community event in January 2022, we’ve ramped up our event schedule and have held nearly 50 events to date, now including those hosted in Portuguese, Spanish, and also in Mandarin, Thai, and Japanese.
It’s been so rewarding engaging with you all during these live events as we learn and answer questions together across all Cloud topics.
As always, you can see our previous and upcoming events here.
As we continue in 2023, we plan on including more speakers from the Community, including our customers, partners, Google Cloud Innovator Champions, Certified professionals, and more. We want to know how you are using Google Cloud solutions to innovate, solve problems, improve customer experiences, and more. When we share together, we can learn and grow together.
We also want to make sure we’re hosting these events so they continue to be worthwhile and beneficial for you. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to improve for the future - topics, length, format, registration process, speakers, etc. Thank you for your feedback!
